This has become one of my favourite divers and is the watch that properly flipped me into a Breitling fan.

The bezel action is genuinely one of the best I have felt in this range. I have owned and handled a lot of Longines, Tudor and TAG Heuer divers, and this is right up there for me. The clicks feel extremely satisfying, light but tactile and well engineered, with the signature Breitling screws securing the bezel. This lighter bezel action has also been noted in reviews of this Avenger generation. I personally much prefer this smoother action, but I want to make it clear for anyone who prefers a very firm/stiff dive bezel.

The bracelet is superb as well. The fully articulating links make it feel very comfortable on wrist, and the microadjustable clasp gives it that much needed flexibility for on the fly resizing. A game changer in hot weather, and also a proper bonus point for a dive watch as it allows adjustment over a wetsuit.

All of this is paired with a lovely clean, minimalist black dial and a fantastic workhorse automatic movement. For me, it makes this a beast of a modern dive watch.

The 42mm case has actually been a very good fit even on my relatively small wrist, but I can see it looking even more spectacular on a wider wrist.

Great cosmetic condition overall:

Only light signs of casual wear can be seen upon close inspection.

The sapphire crystal itself is in excellent condition. There is a very faint superficial mark to the external anti-reflective coating, visible mainly under strong direct light / certain angles. It is cosmetic only and not damage to the sapphire itself. I have deliberately photographed the crystal under strong reflections so you can see the condition clearly.

The outer AR coating can be polished/removed if desired, but personally I really don’t think it’s worth doing for something this minor.

In normal wear it is very difficult to notice.

Looks absolutely phenomenal on wrist.

Excellent mechanical condition, timegrapher tested in 5 positions:

Approximately +1 to +8 s/day across tested positions, with healthy 266° to 305° amplitude and excellent 0.0 to 0.2 ms beat error at 28,800 vph, tested at 50° lift angle.

The Breitling Calibre 17 automatic movement is running very well, with strong amplitude, clean beat alignment, and stable positional performance.

Although the watch is factory rated for 300m water resistance - it's obviously a used watch so if you do any serious diving please pressure test your watch beforehand. Dive watches are meant to be pressure tested regularly if used as a diving instrument that your life depends on.
